Assistant Materials Manager
Greater Duncan, SC Area | Full-Time | Manufacturing / Logistics
Our client in the greater Duncan area is seeking an experienced Assistant Materials Manager to oversee plant-level materials, inventory, transportation, and supplier management. This is a high-visibility role that supports production efficiency and customer satisfaction through effective material planning and logistics leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee MRP parameters and material control processes
Manage supplier releases, incoming shipments, and inventory accuracy
Monitor supplier performance for delivery and quality
Maintain BOM data and implement engineering changes
Reduce obsolescence and minimize inventory levels
Lead and train materials supervisors and handlers
Ensure compliance with IATF, safety standards, and environmental regulations
Track freight costs, optimize truckload utilization, and manage container programs
Ensure timely operation and safety compliance of all material handling equipment
Support inventory accuracy through regular audits and physical inventories
Assist with PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and customer-specific requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
3–5 years of experience in Materials Management in a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
Preferred Skills:
Working knowledge of logistics cost control, supplier relations, and lean processes
Experience with transportation optimization and returnable container tracking
Familiarity with plant-wide audits, cycle counts, and regulatory compliance
Pay Details: $95,000.00 to $108,000.00 per year
