About the Role:
A leading global manufacturer and distributor of industrial material handling equipment is seeking a highly skilled Forklift Technician to join its Charlotte-based operations team. This position plays a critical role in quality control and technical inspection of new forklift units—across electric, internal combustion, and hybrid platforms—prior to delivery to the dealer network.
As the Forklift Technician, you will be responsible for performing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics, completing pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), and ensuring all units meet operational and safety standards before shipment. -
Test, troubleshoot, and adjust drive systems, hydraulic components, lift mechanisms, battery management systems, and safety controls
-
Work with battery-powered forklifts (lead-acid, lithium-ion), including CANbus diagnostics and onboard control modules
-
Identify and resolve defects; perform light mechanical repairs or adjustments as required
-
Interpret technical documentation and maintain accurate inspection records, repair logs, and test checklists
-
Assist with inbound receiving of new equipment and coordinate staging for outbound shipments
-
Lead or support technician team members during high-volume periods; help onboard and coach junior mechanics or warehouse staff
-
Ensure compliance with OSHA and ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 standards in all inspection and shop procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Associate degree or trade certification in Automotive, Diesel, or Industrial Equipment Technology
-
2–5 years’ hands-on experience servicing or inspecting forklifts, warehouse equipment, or comparable mobile industrial machinery
-
Strong understanding of AC/DC drive systems, lift truck hydraulics, and electronic control systems
-
Familiarity with multimeters, diagnostic software, and forklift service manuals
-
Comfortable working on both indoor electric forklifts and outdoor IC models (LPG, diesel, gas)
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate powered industrial trucks (PIT); forklift certification a plus
-
Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in warehouse/shop environments year-round
