As a Human Resources Manager for a union manufacturing environment, you will provide strategic, tactical, and operational support to the management team in a human resources generalist capacity. This role requires 5+ years in an HR role with a deep understanding of HR operations, benefits, compensation, and HR data management. As the hired HR Manager, you will have 2-3 direct reports & will be responsible for over 600+ exempt & nonexempt employees. The candidate must come from a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive core HR functions, aligning initiatives, programs, and projects to business drivers and driving company strategy
  • Manage a team of 2-3 HR managers, associates & office staff
  • Deliver, monitor, coach, and guide technical and nontechnical training for distribution center supervisors and non-exempt associates
  • Build a performance-driven culture through the development and implementation of performance management counseling & coaching techniques
  • Keep a strong pulse on employee engagement and needs, gain insights from employee off-boarding and exit interviews
  • Manage front-line HR operations support to employees, compensation support and communication, on-boarding/off-boarding, leave management & workers' compensation, benefits administration, HR data management, employee relations, immigration, and reporting
  • Review, interpret, administer and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and company policies and procedures, partnering with Employee Relations and legal on any agency charge responses
  • Provide training support to all levels of employees
  • Meet with leadership teams to understand business goals and anticipate future staffing needs & proactively develop and implement staffing sources
  • Proactively strategize with management to recruit new hires based on production requirements & provide coaching and guidance to leaders and employees regarding employment issues in such areas as policy and procedure interpretation/application, coaching and corrective action, leaves of absence, development plans, and terminations
  • Conduct interventions, fact-findings and resolves conflicts as they arise

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience
  • PHR or SHRM-C certification is preferred
  • Must have union experience
  • 5+ years minimum experience in HR Management in a manufacturing/production industry
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide management and employees in HR-related matters.
  • Proven effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
