Legal Secretary – Medical Malpractice Defense

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Secretary to support a busy litigation team with a primary focus on medical malpractice defense. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation support, be comfortable managing complex case files, and be highly skilled in coordinating with attorneys, court staff, and medical professionals.
This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth operations for our legal team and offers the opportunity to grow within a well-established defense firm.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-level administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling medical malpractice defense cases

Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and medical chronologies

Organize and maintain case files (both physical and electronic), including medical records and expert reports

Manage attorney calendars, court dates, deadlines, and travel arrangements

Schedule depositions, client meetings, and conference calls

Communicate with clients, court personnel, medical offices, and opposing counsel

Assist with trial preparation, exhibit organization, and binder assembly

Track billing hours and assist in the preparation of time entries and expense reports
Qualifications:

2+ years of legal secretarial experience, preferably with medical malpractice defense or civil litigation

Strong working knowledge of legal procedures, court systems, and medical/legal terminology

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and case management software (e.g., Needles, Clio, or similar)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and professionalism

Experience working with medical records and handling sensitive/confidential information is highly preferred

Pay Details: $19.23 to $23.08 per hour
