Position Summary

The Molding Technician is responsible for the setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and basic repair of injection molding machines and associated ancillary equipment. The role includes ensuring machine safety, performing process adjustments, and maintaining compliance with company standards.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform machine and mold safety checks, ensuring all equipment is operating within safety standards.
  • Complete mold changeovers and adjust machinery to ensure optimal production.
  • Conduct cycle checks and prioritize tasks based on business needs and production goals.
  • Make accurate process adjustments to eliminate non-conforming parts and ensure quality standards.
  • Perform mold start-up, quality checks, and set up gages for necessary inspections.
  • Carry out basic cleaning and preventive maintenance on molds and related equipment.
  • Utilize MVP (Maintenance, Validation, and Performance) system to track and manage preventive maintenance (PM) tasks.
  • Assist Operators with troubleshooting and operational tasks as needed.
  • Process material changeovers, including filling barrels, mixing materials, and ensuring traceability.
  • Operate the Shibaura Injectvisor controller for basic functions, such as loading programs and making process adjustments.
  • Respond to machine alarms and perform basic troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, government regulations, and safety standards, including occupational health and environmental requirements.
  • Actively promote and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Work Environment

  • This role involves working with manufacturing equipment and being in close proximity to machinery, with potential exposure to biohazards and/or chemicals.
  • The work environment can range from clean rooms with gowning requirements to open production areas that may be noisy and have moving equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
  • Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, and using bilateral motions involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
  • Requires concentrated visual attention to inspect products and components for quality.
  • Travel is minimal, typically less than 5% of the time.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Sound judgment in troubleshooting technical issues and resolving equipment problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across various levels and departments within the organization.
  • Proficient in using computers and computerized controls.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical school background is desirable.
  • Education requirements may be met through formal education or equivalent work experience.
  • Up to 3 years of manufacturing experience. Previous experience with plastic injection molding equipment is preferred.


Pay Details: $27.00 per hour
