Payroll Specialist – 6-month Contract (can turn into direct hire)
Adecco is hiring immediately for a Payroll Specialist at a well-established client based in the United States. This is a contract role expected to last 6 months, with the potential for direct hire, though that is not guaranteed at this time.
The ideal pay rate is between $30 -$35 an hour. We’re especially interested in candidates with ADP Workforce Now and/or Workforce Manager experience, but this is a preference — not a strict requirement.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead weekly (hourly) and twice-monthly (salary) payroll processing for U.S. employees, ensuring accurate entries in ADP’s Workforce Now platform.
Partner with local payroll coordinators to troubleshoot hourly payroll issues related to ADP Workforce Manager.
Work directly with the ADP team to resolve processing or system issues.
Coordinate payroll tax registration projects by working with payroll providers, state agencies, and internal teams to ensure tax compliance in all states and legal entities.
Manage compliance updates for state-specific tax rates, paid leave, and regulatory changes.
Oversee integration management by reviewing current payroll system interfaces with vendors and internal platforms, escalating issues, and identifying areas for improvement.
Support vendor analysis for payroll systems, gathering internal data to assist in pricing and proposal finalizations.
Participate in payroll system implementation projects by supporting data collection, testing, and system validation.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred
4+ years of payroll processing experience
2+ years supporting payroll tax registration coordination
2+ years of payroll-related project management experience, including system implementations
ADP platform experience preferred — especially with Workforce Now and/or Workforce Manager
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
