Position Description

Project Overview:

Our delivery team is part of the Global Networking organization, and is the team responsible for the onboarding of new networking products at a switch/ accessories/ assembled systems/ network level, and to ensure all processes, systems, and software tools are updated in order to efficiently place orders, install & bring up equipment, or decommission equipment in the field at scale. This enables the organization to deliver networking capacity and new capabilities within accepted SLO's. 

We are in need of a product ordering configuration support team member with focus in two primary areas:

  • New Product Introduction (NPI) programs:  includes coordinating with cross functional teams to determine the product/ config requirements needed, and to create BOMs and ordering logic to onboard new products into our automated ordering systems, and to use change management best practices to update and rollout changes to them
  • Support on special projects as needed: could include collecting and summarizing data, creating UAT test cases, and performing the UAT
  • Overall Responsibilities:

  • At each project phase of each NPI, coordinate with cross functional teams to collect design, deployment, product configuration, and materials requirements for multiple NPI programs concurrently. Also, collect and incorporate changes based on feedback from prior project phases.
  • Convert the design, deployment, product configuration, and materials requirements into aggregated BOMs with ordering configuration formulas (rulesets), and then input these rulesets into in-house automated ordering tools
  • Drive cross-functional teams to complete action items needed to get information for the rulesets and for them to review and approve the aggregated BOMs/ rulesets
  • Drive for solutions as needed to avoid manual parameters in the rulesets, and to avoid any manual ordering in production
  • Determine all combinations of allowed/ not allowed ordering configurations and then test the rulesets to ensure demand will be calculated properly for all scenarios
  • Validate that initial automated orders for each NPI are ordered and processed properly
  • Communicate the rollout of new rulesets and rulesets changes to supply chain teams
  • Support placing manual orders if needed during earliest NPI phases
  • Confirm that rulesets meet production release criteria before releasing them to production
  • Identify and create requests for new software features needed from in-house ordering tools to support the NPIs
  • Identify gaps and create and update process documentation as needed to improve efficiency of the team. Create ordering rulesets documentation per project.
  • Highlight potential process/tool improvements
  • Proactively communicating with LS Program Managers to prevent and resolve issues and to meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Work on Special Projects as assigned by LS PM, which could include collecting and summarizing data, creating UAT test cases, and performing the UAT
  • Provide responses/ feedback to LS PM for automated ordering readiness in phase gate entry/exit documents
  • Review and approve product design changes and determine the disposition plan and the level of impact to NPIs being worked on, and implement the changes into the ordering BOMs/ rulesets and open sales orders without disrupting projects    
  • Attend cross functional meetings with the supply chain team to provide status and requirements with respect to implementing changes to the products, BOMs/ rulesets, and orders    
  • Top 3 Daily Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to collect design, deployment, product configuration, and materials requirements, and convert them into BOMs and Rulesets, input them into the in-house automated ordering tools, test them, and release them for general use
  • Review and approve product design changes and determine the level of impact to NPIs being worked on, and implement the changes into the rulesets and open sales orders without disrupting projects 
  • Communicate updates to LS PM and attend cross functional meetings with supply chain to provide status with respect to implementing changes to the products, rulesets, and orders, and to stay in lockstep with design changes and the needs of the NPI programs
  • Skill/Experience/Education

    Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3 years of working experience at an OEM as a New Product Introduction Engineer, Product Engineer, or equivalent experience in a similar engineering role, working with design engineering and supply chain/ manufacturing engineering to create product level part numbers/ BOMs and setup product data systems to release new products at scale, and to maintain them across their full lifecycle
  • Experience creating Hardware Product Data Structuring (Part Numbers, Bills of Materials {BOMs}), Managing Product Lifecycles (PLM/PDM), and using Change Management Best Practices in PDM/PLM systems, including Reviewing/Approving & Implementing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into manufacturing and the field
  • Experience with the steps required and standard new product development phase gates used to design, manufacture, and release products into a supply chain, from forecasting on through to production ramp, including spares support, transitioning products due to End of Life, and to decommission a product
  • Strong attention to details
  • Strong interest in and ability to learn products functions and their interconnections with other products
  • Extensive experience with spreadsheets and creating conditional logic formulas (e.g. if/then/else)
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot issues with internal software systems, systems setups, or data that are not providing the expected result, and recommend/implement the appropriate fix
  • Engaged, driven, self-motivated and can take an ambiguous request and chase down the required details
  • Ability to learn and execute tasks quickly with minimal supervision
  • Ability to learn internal software tools quickly
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, including validating information and raise questions/ concerns when things don’t align
  • Functional skills using computer software to manage & summarize data and to create documentation

  • Experience with usage of SKUs - Experience with creation of sales orders or demand flowing from a customer into a supply chain organization

  • Experience with product capitalization and asset management accounting principles
  • Experience with Google Suites/ Workspace
