This long-term contract is 35hrs/week, $50-$70/hr, M-F 9-5. There is a possibility to convert to full time.
Job Description:
Responsible for helping to conceptualize, write, edit and manage the development of teacher-facing, student-facing, and family-facing content in support of literacy development.
Work independently and in collaboration with staff and outside consultants as assigned by the Executive Editorial Director to help develop new Collections, and support materials for elementary, middle and high school, and help craft our vision for creating new products to support striving readers in grades 3-12 as we develop future book collections that require curation and support materials, both print and digital.
Works in concert as needed with outside consultants, designers, proofreaders, and production staff to achieve project goals.
May monitor and coordinate the work of editors and associate and assistant editors on specific projects, as well as help oversee project schedules.
Writes and edits manuscripts in accordance with project guidelines and maintains effective use of assigned staff to ensure an adherence to quality and schedules.
Plans for and refines content, format, level, style, organization, and illustrations.
Works on the development of new resources for future projects, including innovative supports for students, teachers, and families, as well as the acquisition of reprint licenses for new children’s and YA books from other publishers to meet the needs of our customer base.
Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. (or significant equivalent work experience)
Relevant experience Educational Publishing Curriculum development Proven track record creating high-quality literacy materials (reading, writing, ELA) experience working as part of a team for a leader in educational publishing Teaching experience, especially at the grades 3-8 also a plus
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Familiar with AP and Chicago Manual of Style.

Pay Details: $50.00 to $70.00 per hour
