We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Clerk in the Kansas City, MO area. The Shipping Clerk will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of shipments, maintaining shipping records, coordinating transportation, and supporting overall warehouse and inventory functions. This is a clerical role that involves working closely with the shipping team, warehouse staff, and external carriers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Shipping Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, shipping orders, and invoices for outgoing shipments. Ensure that all documents are in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

  • Customer Communication: Communicate with customers regarding order status, shipment tracking, and any potential shipping delays. Provide excellent customer service to resolve any shipping-related issues or inquiries.

  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking numbers and delivery receipts. Update inventory systems to reflect shipped goods and assist with inventory control as needed.

  • Transportation Scheduling: Schedule pickups with third-party carriers or arrange transportation using company-owned vehicles as appropriate.

  • Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate and organized shipping files for auditing purposes. Prepare reports on shipping activity, inventory levels, and order fulfillment metrics.

  • Administrative Support: Provide general clerical support to the shipping and logistics team, including answering phones, processing correspondence, and assisting with filing and other administrative tasks as required.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.

  • Experience:

    • At least 1-2 years of clerical experience, preferably in shipping, logistics, or warehouse management, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

    • Experience in the steel industry or related fields is a strong advantage.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

    • Experience with shipping software and inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with customers, vendors, and internal teams in a professional and efficient manner.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to identify issues in the shipping process and find solutions quickly and efficiently.

 



Pay Details: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour
