Responsibilities for Surgical Technician jobs include:  

 

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments and supplies for procedures 

• Maintain sterile technique and ensure a sterile field throughout the surgery 

• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon in a timely manner 

• Handle specimens and medications according to departmental policies 

• Monitor and communicate any breaks in technique or unsafe situations to the surgical team 

• Perform necessary counts of instruments, sponges, and small items with the circulating nurse 

• Anticipate the surgeon’s needs based on the procedure and case progress 

• Ensure all materials and equipment are available and functioning properly 

 

Requirements: 

 

• High School Diploma/GED 

• At least 1 year of Surgical Technician experience 

• BLS - Basic Life Support certification 

• CST - Certified Surgical Tech preferred 

• Completion of a formal Surgical Technology program 

• Ability to apply sound judgment, make informed decisions, and identify issues with appropriate solutions 

• Foster effective working relationships, build consensus, and communicate clearly in various formats 

• Assist the surgical team in meeting standard work requirements, including case setup, patient care, and room cleaning 

• Knowledge of normal/abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic surgical procedures, and sterile technique, with the ability to monitor and address breaches in sterile technique 

• Proficiency in computer systems, adherence to hospital policies, and understanding of safety procedures 

• Accountability for professional growth through continuing education, evaluations, and feedback

Pay Details: $46.00 to $73.00 per hour
